Jennifer Garner, born April 17, 1972, in Houston, Texas, was raised within Charleston West Virginia. William John Garner is her father. He was one of the chemical engineer at Union Carbide. The mother of her Patricia Ann taught at a local college. She graduated with a chemical engineering degree to follow her father. Then she moved into New York in order to follow her dreams as an actor. As she appeared in Broadway plays, she also served as a server in a nearby restaurant. Garner was a small part in the film "Felicity" (where the show was where she first came into contact with Scott Foley). Her breakthrough came with the action-thriller "Alias."
